The game saw the Blue Jackets take an early lead with their only goal coming during the first period. Despite this initial momentum, they were unable to capitalize further on their scoring opportunities throughout the match. The team's shooting accuracy was modest, with a shooting percentage of four percent from their total of 26 shots on goal. Their power play unit struggled to make an impact as well; despite having five opportunities and nine shots during these advantages, they failed to convert any into goals.

Defensively, Columbus put up a resilient effort by blocking 14 shots and delivering 21 hits over the course of the game. They also showed proficiency in faceoffs with a win percentage of fifty-four percent but could not maintain possession consistently as evidenced by their seven penalties totaling twenty-five penalty minutes.

The goaltending for Columbus was commendable; their goalie saved twenty-nine out of thirty-one shots for a save percentage of ninety-four percent which included eight saves while shorthanded. However, it wasn't enough to secure victory as Boston managed to tie up the game in the second period and eventually clinched it with an overtime goal.

On Boston's side, they demonstrated resilience by bouncing back from being one point down after the first period. Their offense took thirty-one shots throughout and managed two goals – one during power play time and another that sealed their victory in overtime. The Bruins' goaltender also had an impressive night with twenty-five saves from twenty-six shots for a save percentage of ninety-six percent.

As fans look ahead, they can anticipate watching more action when Columbus hosts its next game against Florida Panthers at Nationwide Arena on April 1st at 7:00 PM Eastern Time. This upcoming match will be available for viewing on ESPN+ online or through local broadcasts BSOH channel six hundred sixty and BSFL channel six hundred fifty-four for home and away fans respectively.
