Columbus Blue Jackets to Clash with Colorado Avalanche in Mile-High Duel

As the Columbus Blue Jackets prepare to face off against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena, fans can anticipate an intense matchup. The Blue Jackets have shown a mixed bag of results in their recent outings, displaying both resilience and areas needing improvement.

In their last game against the Nashville Predators, Columbus fell short by a single point, ending with a 1-2 scoreline. Despite this narrow defeat, there were positive takeaways; notably, their goaltending was solid with an impressive save percentage. However, they struggled in faceoffs and power plays where they won only 40 percent and failed to capitalize on two opportunities respectively.

The previous encounter saw a more favorable outcome for the Blue Jackets as they secured a victory over the Edmonton Oilers with four points to two. Their offensive play shone through with a shooting percentage of twelve percent and successfully blocking eleven shots. Yet again though, faceoff wins were lower than desired at 45 percent.

Against the Pittsburgh Penguins prior to that win, Columbus displayed tenacity but ultimately succumbed 3-5. They managed three goals from thirty-six shots reflecting an eight percent shooting success rate but faced challenges in shorthanded situations winning only fourteen percent of those faceoffs.

These recent performances suggest that while Columbus has been able to find the back of the net consistently – especially at even strength – there is room for growth in special teams' play and maintaining puck control during critical moments.

As they head into Denver's high altitude environment which may add an extra layer of challenge due to potential fatigue factors associated with thinner air conditions – it will be crucial for them to focus on improving their faceoff win percentage and capitalizing on powerplay chances if they wish to secure a win against a formidable Avalanche team known for its strong home presence.

Fans can catch all the action from this upcoming game scheduled for March 23rd at Ball Arena on ESPN+ online or BSOH/ALT TV networks starting from 01:00 AM UTC (March 22nd local time).
