Columbus Blue Jackets Set Sights on Taming the Avalanche at Nationwide Arena

As the Columbus Blue Jackets gear up to host the Colorado Avalanche at Nationwide Arena, fans are eager to see if their team can harness the momentum from their recent performances. The upcoming game, set in Columbus's own backyard, promises an electrifying atmosphere where home advantage could play a crucial role.

The Blue Jackets have had a mixed bag of results in their past few outings. A close encounter with the Detroit Red Wings saw them secure 3 points but ultimately fall short in overtime. Despite this setback, there were positive takeaways; they managed to land 35 shots and convert one powerplay opportunity into a goal. However, faceoff wins were an area of concern as they only succeeded 44 percent of the time.

In stark contrast was their performance against the Winnipeg Jets where they suffered a heavy defeat, scoring just once from 31 shots and conceding six goals. The silver lining was an improved faceoff win percentage at 54 percent, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide of the game.

Redemption came when they faced off against San Jose Sharks at Nationwide Arena. The Blue Jackets showcased resilience and offensive prowess by netting four goals from just 20 shots – an impressive shooting percentage of twenty percent – while also dominating faceoffs with a fifty-five percent win rate.

Looking ahead to their clash with Colorado Avalanche, maintaining strong goaltending will be vital for Columbus as well as capitalizing on powerplay opportunities which have been sporadic in recent games. Faceoffs will again be critical; winning puck possession could dictate game flow and ultimately influence outcomes.

Fans can catch all the action live on Sunday night when these two teams collide. Tune into ESPN+ for internet streaming or BSOH/ALT for television coverage starting at 7:00 PM ET at Nationwide Arena.
