The Columbus Blue Jackets opened the scoring in the first period with one goal but found themselves trailing as the Predators responded with three goals. The second period saw each team add one more to their tally. In an attempt to close the gap, Columbus managed two additional goals in the third period; however, they were unable to overcome Nashville's lead.

Columbus demonstrated resilience throughout the match. They outshot their opponents with a total of 37 shots on goal and maintained an even strength across all periods. Their faceoff win percentage was slightly better than Nashville's at 51 percent compared to 49 percent for their opponents. Despite this effort and securing four goals during even-strength play, it wasn't enough to secure victory.

Nashville capitalized on powerplay opportunities by scoring two powerplay goals out of three chances while maintaining strong goaltending with 33 saves credited as a win for their netminder.
