The Dallas Stars displayed impressive offensive skills throughout the game. The team's shooting percentage was notable at approximately 17 percent as they managed to put five goals past the Canadiens' goaltender on just 30 shots. The powerplay unit for the Stars capitalized on their opportunities by scoring two goals during their three chances. This special teams success was complemented by their even-strength play where they scored three additional goals.

Defensively, Dallas was equally strong. Their goaltender saved 32 out of 34 shots, boasting a save percentage of about 94 percent which contributed significantly to their win. The team also showed discipline and control as they limited themselves to only four penalties throughout the entire game.

On top of that, faceoffs were an area where Dallas excelled; winning over half of them at a rate of approximately 53 percent which helped maintain possession and control over the game flow. They also blocked an impressive number of shots and executed takeaways that kept Montreal's scoring chances to a minimum.

The Montreal Canadiens had moments where they shone but ultimately could not keep pace with Dallas' performance. Despite taking more shots than Dallas with a total count of 34, they only managed to convert approximately six percent into goals due in part to stellar goaltending from Dallas' netminder.

Montreal's powerplay struggled against Dallas' penalty kill units failing to score on any of their four opportunities despite having nearly six minutes on one advantage alone. Their faceoff win percentage was lower than that of Dallas', which hindered them from establishing control especially during critical moments in the match.

As fans look ahead after this exciting victory for the Stars, attention turns towards their next challenge as they prepare for an away game against Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre scheduled for October 24th at around 7:00 PM Eastern Time (ET).
