The first period saw the Oilers taking an early lead with two goals. However, the second period marked a significant turnaround for Dallas. The Stars scored three goals in this period alone, showcasing their offensive capabilities and resilience. Jason Robertson was instrumental in this surge, contributing significantly to the team's performance.

In total, Dallas had 22 shots on goal and managed to convert five of them into points, resulting in an impressive shooting percentage of 23 percent. They also dominated faceoffs by winning 52 percent of them and recorded eight assists throughout the game.

Defensively, Dallas was solid as well. The team blocked 22 shots and made crucial takeaways that prevented Edmonton from extending their lead further. Goaltender Jake Oettinger made key saves during critical moments; he faced a total of 30 shots and saved all but three.

On the other hand, Edmonton started strong but couldn't maintain their momentum through all periods. Connor McDavid led his team by scoring one goal out of their three total goals for the night. Despite having more hits (45) compared to Dallas' (22), they struggled to capitalize on powerplay opportunities as they failed to score any powerplay goals despite having two chances.
