In an intense match-up at PNC Arena, the Detroit Red Wings were unable to secure victory against the Carolina Hurricanes. Despite a valiant effort, the Red Wings fell short as they managed to put only two goals past the Hurricanes' goaltender on twelve shots. The team's shooting accuracy was notable with a seventeen percent success rate on their attempts.

The powerplay unit for Detroit capitalized once during their single opportunity thanks to an efficient play that lasted just twenty seconds and resulted in a goal while enjoying a one-man advantage. This special teams success was complemented by their penalty kill squad who did not concede any goals during their lone shorthanded situation.

Detroit's offense saw contributions from multiple players as they tallied six points collectively, including four assists which were instrumental in both goals scored. However, despite these efforts and winning twenty-seven faceoffs throughout the game, they struggled in this aspect with only forty-four percent faceoff wins compared to Carolina's fifty-six percent.

Defensively speaking, Detroit showed resilience by blocking seventeen shots and executing ten blocked attempts. They also displayed some physicality with thirteen hits over three periods but had difficulty maintaining puck possession as evidenced by ten giveaways.

On the goaltending front for Detroit, there were twenty-six saves made out of twenty-nine shots faced during regulation time; however an empty-net goal brought total goals against to four out of thirty total shots faced for the night.

The Carolina Hurricanes demonstrated strong offensive capabilities throughout all three periods scoring once each in the first two and adding another two goals in third period action. Their shooting percentage stood at thirteen percent after taking thirty shots on goal leading them to victory over Detroit.
