In an eventful match at Rogers Arena, the Detroit Red Wings were unable to capitalize on their opportunities against the Vancouver Canucks. Despite generating 28 shots on goal and securing five powerplay chances, the Red Wings only managed to convert one shot into a goal. The sole successful strike came during the second period, which briefly raised hopes for a comeback.

The offensive efforts by Detroit were met with staunch resistance from Vancouver's goaltender who saved 27 out of 28 shots, showcasing an impressive save percentage rounded to one hundred percent. On the other side of the rink, Detroit's goaltender faced fewer shots but allowed four goals from just twenty-one attempts.

Detroit's powerplay unit struggled throughout the game; despite having five opportunities to leverage their numerical advantage and firing four shots during these times, they failed to find the back of net. Their faceoff performance was also lacking as they won only forty-four percent of fifty-four faceoffs.

Defensively speaking, Detroit blocked seventeen shots and delivered thirteen hits over three periods but ended up with a minus-fifteen plus-minus rating collectively. This statistic underscored their challenges in maintaining puck possession and preventing scoring chances for Vancouver.

The Canucks capitalized on their even-strength play by scoring all four goals during five-on-five situations. They also outperformed in faceoffs with a fifty-six percent win rate which contributed significantly to controlling game flow and ultimately securing victory.
