In front of a crowd at Little Caesars Arena numbering 18,580 spectators, the Red Wings sought to capitalize on their home advantage. The game commenced with an early surge from the Red Wings as they opened the scoring in the first period. Their powerplay unit converted one out of four opportunities into a goal, showcasing an effective conversion rate and demonstrating their special teams' capability.

Despite this initial success, it was not enough to sustain them through subsequent periods. The Coyotes responded with resilience and capitalized on their even-strength play by netting three goals past the Red Wings' defense. The visitors displayed remarkable accuracy throughout the match with a shooting percentage rounded to 15 percent compared to that of Detroit's which stood at just three percent.

The Red Wings goaltender made an admirable effort between the pipes saving 23 out of 26 shots during play but ultimately conceded three goals while one slipped into an empty net during closing stages. On offense, despite taking more shots than their opponents—29 compared to Arizona's 27—the home team struggled to find the back of the net after their initial goal.

Defensively speaking, both teams were almost evenly matched in blocked shots with each side registering 18 blocks apiece; however, it was clear that Arizona managed to convert more effectively when chances arose. Additionally noteworthy was Detroit's faceoff performance where they won nearly two-thirds (62 percent) indicating strong puck possession starts but unfortunately not translating into scoring success.

As for discipline on ice - penalties played a role but did not dominate proceedings; Detroit incurred six penalty minutes over three infractions while Arizona served ten minutes across five penalties without either side conceding powerplay goals against them.

Looking ahead for fans eager to follow their beloved team: The next game for Detroit will be against Buffalo Sabres at Little Caesars Arena scheduled for March 16th at noon local time (Eastern Time).
