Did Detroit Red Wings' Powerplay Miss Opportunities Against Buffalo Sabres?

First Period


The game began with both teams showing determination on the ice. The Red Wings opened the scoring with Dylan Larkin finding the back of the net early on. However, Buffalo quickly responded with a goal from Tage Thompson, leveling the score by period's end.


Second Period


Detroit took control in this segment as they capitalized on their offensive opportunities. Lucas Raymond was instrumental in setting up plays that led to three goals for his team during this period. The Winged Wheel managed to outshoot their opponents and went into intermission with a comfortable lead.

Third Period


The final regulation period saw a shift in momentum as Buffalo clawed back into contention. The Swords scored twice, tying up what had seemed like an assured victory for Detroit earlier on. Despite having several powerplay chances throughout this period and earlier ones, including five opportunities overall without converting more than once, Detroit struggled to capitalize effectively.


Overtime


In overtime play, it was Josh Doan of Buffalo who sealed their win with an impressive goal that left John Gibson unable to make another save despite his commendable performance throughout regular time where he made 22 saves out of 27 shots faced.
