Clash on Ice: Florida Panthers to Face Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place

As the Edmonton Oilers prepare to host the Florida Panthers at Rogers Place, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an electrifying game. The Oilers have been showing a pattern of resilience and strategic gameplay that could very well tip the scales in their favor in the upcoming match.

In their recent encounter with Tampa Bay Lightning on December 15, despite a loss with a score of 7-4, the Oilers demonstrated an impressive ability to fight back, scoring three goals in the second period after starting from behind. This kind of comeback spirit is exactly what they will need when facing off against the Panthers.

The statistics from past games reveal some areas where Edmonton has excelled and can capitalize on against Florida. Their powerplay performance has been notable; they scored two powerplay goals out of four opportunities against Tampa Bay. Moreover, their shorthanded goal shows they can be dangerous even when down a man. With a shooting percentage of 7 percent overall in that game and winning over half their faceoffs, it's clear that when they gain momentum, they can be hard to stop.

However, there are concerns as well. The goaltending was less than stellar against Tampa Bay with only a 71 percent save rate which contributed significantly to their defeat. This is an area where improvement is crucial if they hope to contain the Panthers' offense.

Looking back further at another home game victory over Chicago Blackhawks on December 13 by 4-1 showcases what happens when all cylinders are firing for Edmonton. They had an impressive shooting percentage of nearly 14 percent and dominated faceoffs with nearly 54 percent won – both factors contributing greatly to that win.

Against New Jersey Devils on December 10th, another win for Edmonton by a scoreline of 4-1 highlighted their defensive prowess as well as offensive efficiency; blocking shots and limiting New Jersey's scoring chances while capitalizing on theirs with a shooting percentage over 13 percent again.

The key takeaway here is consistency – if Edmonton Oilers maintain strong defense while exploiting powerplay opportunities like they have shown capability in doing so recently – fans could witness them skating away victorious once more.

As we look towards this matchup between two formidable teams at Rogers Place scheduled for December 17th at around ten PM Eastern Time (8 PM Mountain Time), it’s clear that if Edmonton harnesses its strengths effectively while tightening up defensively particularly between pipes - there’s every chance this home advantage could see them through yet again.
