Can the Oilers Continue Their Winning Streak at Bell Centre?

As the Edmonton Oilers prepare to face off against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Oilers have been on a roll, and their recent performances suggest they could extend their winning streak when they hit the ice in Montreal.

Looking back at their last game on January 12 against the Detroit Red Wings, Edmonton displayed remarkable resilience. Despite not scoring in the first two periods, they rallied to net two goals in the third and clinched victory with an overtime goal. This win was backed by an impressive 47 shots on goal and a solid defensive effort that saw them block 24 shots while only giving away four penalties.

The goaltending for Edmonton has been nothing short of stellar. With a save percentage rounding up to 100 percent against Detroit's 18 shots, it's clear that between the pipes is where games are being won for EDM. This level of performance will be crucial when facing Montreal.

On offense, Edmonton's power play didn't convert against Detroit despite having two opportunities. However, their even-strength play was dominant – scoring three goals from 40 shots – which speaks volumes about their ability to control play during regular shifts.

Comparatively, in another recent game on January 10 versus Chicago Blackhawks, EDM showcased its offensive prowess with a shooting percentage of 13 percent from just 15 shots resulting in two goals that secured them another win.

The Canadiens should not be underestimated though; they will be looking to capitalize on any opportunity given by EDM’s minor lapses like giveaways or penalties as seen in past games. But if Edmonton can maintain discipline and continue leveraging its strengths – high shot volume and tight goaltending – there’s every reason to believe they’ll come out on top once again.

Fans eager for this matchup should mark their calendars for January 14th when these teams will clash at Bell Centre. The puck drops late evening local time and you can catch all the action live nationally via ESPN+ over internet broadcast networks. Will Edmonton Oilers' momentum carry them through or will Montreal Canadiens rise up to challenge? Only time will tell as we await what promises to be an exciting game of hockey under those bright arena lights.
