At Rogers Place, the Oilers showcased their dominance from start to finish. The game remained scoreless after the first period but began to tilt in Edmonton's favor during the second. The Oilers broke through with their first goal and maintained pressure throughout, adding two more goals in the third period.

Edmonton's offense was relentless, firing a total of 34 shots on goal and converting three into scores. Their shooting accuracy was evident as they finished with a nine percent shooting percentage. One of these goals came from an effective powerplay opportunity where they capitalized on their single chance with three shots taken during that time.

Defensively, Edmonton was just as impressive. Goaltending proved to be impenetrable for Chicago's offense; all 27 shots were saved by the Oilers' goalie who earned a shutout and was credited with the win after spending 60 minutes on ice. This defensive prowess extended beyond goaltending as well; Edmonton blocked nine shots and won over half of their faceoffs at fifty-eight percent.

The Blackhawks struggled to find any rhythm against this stout defense. Despite taking 27 shots themselves, none found the back of the net due to stellar goaltending from Edmonton's side which boasted a perfect save percentage for both teams' even-strength play.

Chicago also fell short in physical aspects such as hits where they recorded thirty-one compared to twenty by Edmonton but failed to convert this into offensive success or disrupt Oilers' gameplay significantly enough.

Looking ahead for fans of the Oilers: The next game is scheduled against Nashville Predators at Rogers Place on January 27th at 2:00 PM local time (4:00 PM EST). This match-up can be watched nationally via ESPN+ or locally on BSSO channel number 646-1 for those following away broadcasts.
