Will the Edmonton Oilers Continue Their Dominance Against the Arizona Coyotes?

As the Edmonton Oilers prepare to face off against the Arizona Coyotes at Mullett Arena, fans are eager to see if their team can continue their recent momentum. The Oilers have shown a remarkable ability to dominate in the third period, as evidenced by their stunning comeback victory over the New York Rangers on December 23rd, where they scored all four of their goals in that final stretch.

The statistics from that game speak volumes about Edmonton's resilience and offensive prowess. With a shooting percentage of 14 percent and a faceoff win percentage of 59 percent, it's clear that when they gain control of the puck, they know how to capitalize on it. Their goaltending was also impeccable with a save percentage of 100 percent against 34 shots.

However, not every game tells a story of triumph for EDM. Just two days prior on December 22nd against the New Jersey Devils, despite scoring six goals and winning by three points, their faceoff win rate dropped slightly to 47 percent. This suggests some inconsistency in puck possession which could be exploited by ARI if not addressed.

Moreover, looking back at December 20th against the New York Islanders reveals vulnerabilities when facing powerplays; although EDM managed only one goal throughout this encounter and lost by two points. The powerplay opportunities were there with four chances but converting them into goals proved challenging as reflected by zero powerplay goals scored from seven shots.

The upcoming match presents an opportunity for Edmonton Oilers to refine these aspects of their game plan. Arizona Coyotes will likely aim to leverage any powerplay situations given EDM's past performance in this area and may also focus on winning more faceoffs after observing previous games where EDM had lower percentages.

For fans anticipating this matchup scheduled for February 19th at Mullett Arena in Tempe at 9:00 PM EST (4:00 PM local time), expectations are high for an intense battle on ice. It is crucial for Edmonton Oilers to maintain strong defense during penalties and improve consistency in faceoffs while continuing their aggressive offense seen in third periods.
