Can the Edmonton Oilers Ride the Momentum at Rogers Place Against Los Angeles Kings?

As the Edmonton Oilers prepare to host the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place, fans are eager to see if their team can maintain their recent high-scoring performance. The Oilers have shown a remarkable offensive display in their last home game, netting eight goals against the Detroit Red Wings, with an impressive shooting percentage of 22 percent. Their faceoff win percentage stood strong at 61 percent, indicating solid control over puck possession.

However, this scoring prowess was not mirrored in their away game against the St. Louis Blues where they suffered a loss with three goals scored and a minus-11 on plus/minus rating. Despite taking more shots than in their victorious game (38 compared to 36), only 8 percent found the back of the net and they won just 42 percent of faceoffs.

The most concerning trend for Oilers fans came from another away game against none other than their upcoming opponents – the Kings. In that encounter, Edmonton failed to score any goals while allowing four past them. They did manage a higher faceoff win percentage at 52 percent but struggled on powerplay opportunities with zero conversions from four chances.

The Kings will be looking to replicate that dominant performance as they come into Rogers Place. Their goaltending was impenetrable last time these teams met, achieving a save percentage of 100 percent and shutting out the Oilers completely.

Edmonton's challenge will be finding ways to break through Los Angeles' defense while also ensuring they don't leave themselves vulnerable as seen in previous games. Special teams could play a crucial role; improving powerplay efficiency and maintaining discipline will be key factors for an Oilers victory.

Fans can catch all the action from this exciting matchup on February 27th at Rogers Place or tune into ESPN+ nationally or BSW channel 692 if following from away locales. The puck drops at 7:30 PM local time (Mountain Standard Time).
