Can the Edmonton Oilers Glide Past the Pittsburgh Penguins at Rogers Place?

As the Edmonton Oilers prepare to face off against the Pittsburgh Penguins, fans are buzzing with anticipation for what promises to be an electrifying game at Rogers Place. The Oilers, coming off a nail-biting overtime loss against the Boston Bruins on February 22nd, will be looking to rebound and capitalize on their home-ice advantage.

In that recent clash, despite a valiant effort that saw them net 5 goals from 42 shots and maintain a shooting percentage of 12 percent, they fell just short. The team's powerplay opportunities didn't translate into goals, which proved costly in a game where every chance mattered. However, it was evident that when playing at even strength, the Oilers were able to match their opponents blow for blow.

The Pittsburgh Penguins should not take this matchup lightly. The Oilers have shown resilience and an ability to bounce back from setbacks this season. Notably, after their previous loss against Dallas Stars on February 17th where they scored 4 goals with a shooting percentage of 17 percent during powerplays – they came back strong in their next game against Arizona Coyotes on February 19th with an impressive display of offense scoring 6 goals from just 26 shots.

What stands out for EDM is their ability to ramp up pressure in critical moments. Their third-period performance has been particularly strong; as seen in both games against Dallas and Arizona where they scored a combined total of seven third-period goals.

The Penguins will need to keep tabs on Edmonton's aggressive playstyle while also contending with an Oiler's squad eager to make amends before their own supporters. It will be crucial for PIT to disrupt EDM's rhythm early on if they wish not only survive but thrive in such hostile territory.

Looking ahead at March 4th’s matchup – it’s clear that if Edmonton can harness their even-strength prowess and convert powerplay chances into tangible results as they did impressively against Arizona (with one goal from two opportunities), then fans could very well witness their team skating away victoriously under the bright lights of Rogers Place.

For those who bleed orange and blue – mark your calendars! The puck drops at Rogers Place sharp at 7:00 PM local time (9:00 PM EST) this Sunday night. Fans can catch all the action live either online through ESPN+ or tune into SportsNet PT for television coverage. Don't miss what promises to be another thrilling chapter in this NHL season!
