Can the Edmonton Oilers Extend Their Winning Streak Against the Calgary Flames?

As the Edmonton Oilers prepare to face off against their provincial rivals, the Calgary Flames, at Scotiabank Saddledome, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Oilers have been on a tear lately, and their recent performance suggests they might continue their winning ways.

Looking back at the game on March 30th against the Anaheim Ducks, it was a display of sheer dominance by the Oilers. They trounced the Ducks with an impressive 6-1 victory. The team's shooting percentage stood out at 16 percent as they capitalized on nearly every opportunity presented to them. Moreover, their powerplay unit was efficient, scoring once in three opportunities and boasting a faceoff win percentage of 67 percent during those crucial moments.

The following day against Los Angeles Kings wasn't much different for Edmonton. Despite fewer shots on goal (20), they maintained an impressive shooting percentage of 20 percent and secured another win with a scoreline of 4-1. Once again, special teams played a pivotal role as they scored one powerplay goal in two opportunities.

However, it's not just about offense; goaltending has been stellar for Edmonton too. In both games mentioned above, goaltenders saved all but two shots out of a combined total of 55 shots faced – that's an outstanding save percentage across both games.

The Calgary Flames will be no pushovers though; they are known for being tough competitors especially when playing at home in front of their fans at Scotiabank Saddledome. But given how well-rounded Edmonton’s performance has been – from offense to defense – there is reason to believe that this momentum can carry them through even in challenging environments.

It will be essential for EDM to maintain discipline and avoid unnecessary penalties which could give CGY chances to capitalize on powerplays. Faceoffs will also play a critical role; winning these can help control game pace and possession which has been key in previous victories for EDM.

Fans should mark their calendars for April 7th when these two teams clash again. The puck drops at 8:00 PM MDT and viewers can catch all the action live on ESPN+. Will we witness another commanding performance by Edmonton or will Calgary rise up to defend home ice? Only time will tell if Oilers can extend their streak or if Flames have what it takes to quench it.
