The Oilers opened the scoring in the first period with a goal that set an early pace for the game. Despite not adding to their tally in the second period, they managed to maintain their lead until the Blues equalized later on. The third period saw both teams score once more, leading to an intense overtime where ultimately, it was the Blues who secured victory with an additional goal.

Throughout this evenly matched contest, Edmonton's goaltending was solid with 26 saves and only three goals allowed over 62 minutes and nine seconds of play time. However, it wasn't enough to secure a win as their opponents managed one more crucial save and capitalized on their powerplay opportunities.

The Oilers showed strength during even-strength play by netting two goals from thirty-five shots but struggled during powerplays where they failed to convert any of their two chances despite firing one shot on goal during these moments. Their faceoff performance also left room for improvement as they won only twenty-five out of fifty-seven draws which translates into forty-four percent success rate.

Defensively speaking, Edmonton displayed resilience by blocking nine shots and executing twenty takeaways but were less disciplined than desired; committing six penalties resulting in fifteen penalty minutes including one major infraction.

As for individual performances from Edmonton players – there were four assists distributed among them contributing to their total six points earned throughout this hard-fought battle against St. Louis.

On April fourth at American Airlines Center in Dallas at 8:30 PM CT (Central Time), fans can catch Edmonton's next game against Dallas Stars broadcasted on ESPN+, BSSW (TV), and TNT (TV). This upcoming match promises another exciting chapter for Oilers supporters as they look forward to seeing how their team will perform following this narrow defeat.
