The game began with both teams scoring in the first period. The Oilers managed to put one goal on the board, but their offense stalled for the remainder of the match. Despite taking a total of 29 shots and winning 51 percent of faceoffs, they could not find another breakthrough. Their powerplay opportunities also went unconverted as they failed to score on two chances.

Defensively, Edmonton had some strong moments but ultimately fell short. They registered a total of nine blocked shots and twenty hits throughout the game. Goaltender Stuart Skinner made twenty-two saves out of twenty-five shots faced but conceded three goals overall—two during even strength play and one into an empty net.

The Stars scored once in each period except for the second and ended up with three goals from twenty-five shots taken—a shooting percentage of twelve percent. Mason Marchment was instrumental for Dallas, contributing significantly to their offensive efforts.

Jake Oettinger stood tall between the pipes for Dallas, making twenty-eight saves from twenty-nine shots faced—a save percentage that matched Skinner's performance but allowed only one goal against him.
