First Period

The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was the Sabres who drew first blood. With precise puck movement and strategic positioning, Buffalo managed to find the back of the net once. The Oilers struggled to capitalize on their opportunities despite having more shots on goal.

Second Period

The second period remained goalless for Edmonton as they continued to face challenges breaking through Buffalo's defense. The Sabres took advantage of powerplay situations and extended their lead by scoring two additional goals. Third Period

Despite outshooting Buffalo 30-28 overall and winning 62 percent of faceoffs, Edmonton couldn't maintain momentum into overtime where Josh Doan sealed victory for Buffalo with an overtime goal assisted by Alex Tuch—both players earning stars recognition alongside McDavid’s efforts.
