The first period saw an explosive start from the San Jose Sharks as they netted three goals. Shakir Mukhamadullin was instrumental for the Sharks, showcasing his defensive prowess and contributing significantly to their early lead. The Oilers managed to respond with one goal during this period, keeping them within reach.

Second Period

In the second period, Edmonton's powerplay unit came alive. Connor McDavid orchestrated a brilliant play that resulted in Leon Draisaitl scoring for the Oilers. Third Period

The final period was marked by intense back-and-forth action. Edmonton scored twice more through even-strength plays but struggled to contain Michael Misa from San Jose who added another goal for his team. Although Evan Bouchard contributed significantly with assists and shots on goal throughout the game, it wasn't enough to turn things around completely for Edmonton.

Despite outshooting their opponents during powerplays and maintaining pressure throughout all periods, what went wrong for Edmonton Oilers was evident in missed chances and giveaways that allowed San Jose crucial counterattacks leading ultimately towards victory.
