In what was an evenly matched contest at Amerant Bank Arena, the Florida Panthers demonstrated resilience and determination. The game saw both teams locked in a defensive struggle through three periods and into overtime. The Panthers' goaltender was formidable between the pipes, saving 28 out of 30 shots faced. This performance was pivotal to keeping the team within striking distance throughout regulation time.

The Senators were not without merit; they managed to keep pace with their hosts for much of the game. Their goaltender made an impressive 31 saves but ultimately conceded three goals including one during overtime which sealed their fate. Despite winning more faceoffs with a success rate of 56 percent compared to the Panthers' 44 percent and blocking more shots (29), they fell just short.

Offensively for Florida, it was a night where teamwork shone through as four assists were recorded on three goals scored – all during even strength play which underscored their ability to capitalize without relying on powerplays or man advantages. In contrast, Ottawa's two goals came late in regulation time but were not enough to secure them more than one point for an overtime loss.

The physicality on ice was evident as both sides delivered over twenty hits each – with Florida leading by nine hits totaling thirty against Ottawa's twenty-one. Both teams also shared equal discipline issues giving away eleven giveaways each and facing penalties; however, it was Florida who managed fewer penalty minutes overall.
