The Panthers won fifty-six percent of faceoffs which helped them maintain control over the puck and dictate play throughout much of the contest.

On Toronto's side, their two goals came from twenty-six shots with both scores occurring in the first period—one being a powerplay goal from one of their five chances with an extra man on ice. However, after this initial surge, they were unable to find the back of net again as Florida tightened up defensively and controlled play at even strength where all five Panther goals were scored.
