On defense, Sergei Bobrovsky was formidable between the pipes for Florida making thirty-one saves throughout the game. His performance underlined his critical role in keeping the game within reach for much longer than it might have been otherwise.


The Colorado Avalanche responded robustly after falling behind early. They managed to score once in each subsequent period including two even-strength goals in third period before sealing their victory with an empty-netter towards end of game. Their goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood played a pivotal role as well stopping twenty-six out of twenty-seven shots he faced earning him one star recognition alongside teammate Devon Toews who was instrumental defensively contributing significantly to team's success.
