Panthers' Powerplay Sparks, But Lightning Strikes at Benchmark International Arena

The Florida Panthers faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Benchmark International Arena in a game that ended with a 6-1 scoreline. The Panthers now hold a record of 29-25-3, while the Lightning improved to 37-14-4.

First Period


The opening period saw the Bolts take control early on. Tampa Bay's aggressive play resulted in two goals, setting the tone for what would be a challenging night for the Cats. Despite Florida's efforts, they were unable to find the back of the net during this period.


Second Period


As play resumed, both teams tightened their defenses. However, it was again Tampa Bay who capitalized on their opportunities with another two goals added to their tally. The Panthers struggled to convert their chances despite having several powerplay opportunities.

Third Period


In an attempt to rally back into contention, Florida's Mackie Samoskevich managed to break through and score during a powerplay opportunity in the third period. This goal marked one of only seven shots taken by Florida during powerplays throughout the game. Unfortunately for them, Tampa Bay responded with two more goals before closing out their dominant performance.


Florida’s goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 22 saves but faced relentless pressure from Tampa’s offense which boasted an impressive shooting percentage of 21 percent overall.

Looking ahead, fans can catch the next matchup as Florida hosts Toronto Maple Leafs at Amerant Bank Arena on February 26th at 7:00 PM EST. The game will be available for viewing on ESPN+ and SCRIPPS TV networks.
