Minnesota Wild Set to Host Arizona Coyotes at Xcel Energy Center

As the Minnesota Wild prepare to face off against the Arizona Coyotes at the Xcel Energy Center, fans are buzzing with anticipation. The Wild have been on a notable streak, and their recent performances suggest they're not slowing down anytime soon.

Looking back at their last game on December 24th against the Boston Bruins, the Wild secured a 3-2 victory. Despite being outshot 21 to 35, they managed to capitalize on their opportunities with an impressive shooting percentage of nearly 9 percent. Their power play was particularly effective, scoring once in five chances and boasting a faceoff win percentage of over 55 percent.

The tenacity of Minnesota's play is evident in their physicality as well; they delivered more hits than Boston and blocked almost as many shots despite facing fewer attempts. This combination of offensive efficiency and defensive resilience could spell trouble for Arizona.

The Coyotes should not be underestimated though. They will come into this game looking to disrupt Minnesota's rhythm and create chances of their own. However, if the Wild maintain their disciplined approach—minimizing giveaways and penalties—they should be able to control the pace of the game.

Another key factor will be goaltending. In that same victorious outing against Boston, Minnesota's goalie saved nearly 91 percent of shots faced during even strength play—a statistic that bodes well for them considering Arizona's less formidable offense.

In another recent performance on December 22nd against Montreal Canadiens, it was clear that when pushed into overtime or shootouts, Minnesota can hold its ground effectively—winning by a scoreline of 4-3 after an intense battle that showcased both teams' resilience.

One aspect where Minnesota might want to focus is faceoffs; winning these small battles can lead to greater control over the game flow—a lesson learned from past games where they've had lower percentages but still came out victorious due in part to strategic plays and timely goalscoring.

With all eyes set on January 14th at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul—the stage is set for what promises to be an exciting match-up between two teams eager for victory. Fans can catch all the action live starting at 8:00 PM EST through various broadcast networks including ESPN+ online or BSN channel number 668 for home viewership among others available options depending on location.
