The Minnesota Wild entered the contest with determination, but despite their efforts, they were only able to net one goal out of their 30 shots. The team's shooting percentage was a modest three percent. In contrast, the Colorado Avalanche capitalized on their opportunities by scoring two goals from their 40 shots, marking a five percent shooting success rate.

Defensively, both teams were on par with each other; each team blocked an impressive number of shots - the Wild with 24 and the Avalanche with 13. The faceoff circle was evenly matched as well; both teams won and lost an equal number of faceoffs at 33 each.

The Wild demonstrated resilience throughout the game. They managed to keep up defensively even when shorthanded due to penalties. With four penalties amounting to eight penalty minutes against them, they still held strong and prevented any powerplay goals during those times. Their goaltender made crucial saves under pressure – stopping all eight shots he faced while shorthanded – contributing significantly to keeping them in contention until overtime.

However, it was during this extra period that the Avalanche seized victory through an overtime goal after putting up four additional shots against Minnesota's none in this decisive frame. This winning goal marked one of two allowed by Minnesota’s goaltender out of a total forty shots faced throughout his time on ice which lasted over sixty-two minutes.
