From the initial puck drop at Honda Center, the Minnesota Wild set a relentless pace against their opponents. The first period remained scoreless, but it was in the second period that the Wild unleashed a barrage of goals, netting three to stun both fans and players alike. The team's shooting accuracy was on display as they converted 12 percent of their shots into goals.

The powerplay unit for Minnesota capitalized on one of their five opportunities thanks to a goal scored during a 5v4 advantage at 9:24. This special teams success was complemented by an even-strength performance that saw them score three additional goals throughout the game.

Defensively, Minnesota was impenetrable; goaltending played a pivotal role as all 27 shots from Anaheim were saved, contributing to an impeccable save percentage and securing a shutout win for the team. Faceoffs were another area where Minnesota excelled with a winning percentage of 67 percent overall and an even more dominant 74 percent at even strength.

Anaheim Ducks struggled throughout this matchup. Despite taking more hits than Minnesota with a total of 17 compared to Wild's 16, they couldn't convert any physicality into scoring opportunities. Their powerplay failed to make an impact against Minnesota's penalty kill units despite having three chances.
