Minnesota Wild Eye Redemption Against Colorado Avalanche in Xcel Energy Center Showdown

As the Minnesota Wild gear up to host the Colorado Avalanche at the Xcel Energy Center, fans are bracing for what promises to be a riveting encounter. The Wild have been on a rollercoaster of performances lately, and their upcoming game on April 5th is an opportunity to set things straight.

Looking back at their recent clash with the St. Louis Blues on March 23rd, it was a nail-biter that saw the Wild fall just short in overtime, ending with a score of 5-4. Despite outshooting the Blues with 34 shots to their 27 and rallying from behind in the second period with three goals, it wasn't enough to clinch victory. The team's shooting percentage stood at 12 percent that night – not quite as sharp as they would have hoped.

In stark contrast was their performance against Anaheim Ducks on March 20th where they blanked them with a dominant four-goal victory and an impressive shutout by their goaltender who saved all 27 shots. That evening, they boasted an even-strength goal tally of three and capitalized once out of five powerplay opportunities – showcasing both defensive resilience and offensive potency.

However, this pattern of inconsistency was evident when looking further back at their game against Los Angeles Kings on March 21st. The Wild were unable to find the net throughout all three periods while conceding six goals. Their penalty kill faced immense pressure as they gave up two goals during shorthanded situations despite making seven saves.

The Avalanche will surely test Minnesota's resolve once again. With home ice advantage this time around for MIN, there is no better stage for redemption than in front of their own fans who are yearning for a display of strength similar to what was witnessed against Anaheim Ducks rather than the disappointment felt post-Kings game.

The key battle will likely be fought between each team's ability to convert powerplay chances while ensuring discipline remains tight; avoiding unnecessary penalties which could tilt the scales either way given both teams' capabilities during special teams play.

The upcoming game is set for April 5th at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul where fans can catch all action live starting from ESPN+ online or tune into ALT or BSN/BSWI networks if preferring television broadcast coverage starting at precisely 7:00 PM CT.
