The opening period saw both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. Despite several attempts from both sides, neither team managed to score. The Wild's defense was particularly effective in this period, blocking numerous shots and maintaining a solid formation that frustrated the Flames' forwards.

Second Period

As the second period unfolded, it was Marcus Johansson who broke the deadlock for the Wild with an assist from Joel Eriksson Ek. This goal came as a result of persistent pressure and quick passing that caught Calgary off guard. Jesper Wallstedt stood out in goal for Minnesota with crucial saves that maintained their lead.
