First Period

The opening period saw both teams struggling to find their rhythm, with neither side managing to score. The Wild had a slight edge in faceoffs, winning 51 percent of them, but were unable to capitalize on this advantage.

Second Period

In the second period, Kirill Kaprizov gave the home crowd something to cheer about by scoring on a powerplay opportunity. Assisted by Matt Boldy and Quinn Hughes, Kaprizov's goal was one of the game-changing plays Minnesota Wild vs St. Louis Blues needed. However, Robert Thomas responded for the Blues with an equalizer later in this period.

Third Period

As tensions mounted in the final period, it was Joel Hofer’s goaltending that stood out for St. Louis as he made crucial saves against Minnesota’s attempts at regaining control of the game. The Blue Note capitalized on their momentum when they scored twice more before time expired—one being an empty-netter—to seal their win over Minnesota.

Despite Filip Gustavsson’s efforts between pipes with 21 saves throughout all periods played; ultimately it wasn't enough against relentless attacks from opponents who managed three goals past him during regulation playtime alone!
