Canadiens and Blue Jackets Set to Clash at Bell Centre

As the Montreal Canadiens gear up to face the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Bell Centre, fans are eager for what promises to be an enthralling matchup. The Canadiens have shown a mix of grit and finesse in their recent games, which could spell trouble for their opponents.

The Habs' last outing on March 1 against the Florida Panthers was a nail-biter that ended in a shootout loss. Despite this setback, there were positive takeaways; they managed to net three goals during regulation and overtime, with a notable powerplay goal among them. Their shooting percentage stood at 10 percent with 31 shots on goal, showcasing their ability to create scoring opportunities.

Defensively, Montreal showed resilience by blocking 19 shots and winning half of their powerplays faceoffs. However, they'll need to tighten up as they gave away eight penalties – an area where discipline will be crucial against Columbus.

In contrast, when looking back at the February 28 game versus the Arizona Coyotes at home in Bell Centre – which ended in a convincing win for Montreal – it's clear that when firing on all cylinders, MTL can dominate both ends of the ice. They boasted an impressive shooting percentage of 19 percent from just 21 shots on goal while also being defensively stout with goaltending saving all but two of Arizona's attempts.

The Canadiens' performance against New Jersey Devils on February 24 further cements this narrative; despite losing that game as well, they put up three goals and maintained solid puck possession throughout.

MTL's ability to capitalize on even-strength situations will be key against CBJ. The Blue Jackets should not be underestimated though; any lapses in concentration from Montreal could easily be punished by Columbus' offensive threats.

Looking ahead to March 12th’s contest between these two teams: if MTL can maintain their offensive efficiency while shoring up defensive discipline (especially regarding penalties), there is every reason for optimism among fans. The Habs have demonstrated both tenacity and skill across recent performances that suggest they're more than capable of securing victory over CBJ.

Fans eager not to miss any action can catch this exciting match-up live from Bell Centre or tune into ESPN+ online or BSOH TV network come puck drop at 7:00 PM local time (Montreal).
