Will the Montreal Canadiens Ignite at Scotiabank Saddledome Against the Calgary Flames?

As the Montreal Canadiens prepare to face off against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome, fans are eager to see if their team can carry forward the momentum from their recent performances. The Canadiens have shown a mix of resilience and vulnerability, making this upcoming game on March 16 an intriguing prospect for both teams.

In their last outing against the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 3, MTL demonstrated a strong offensive presence with 31 shots on goal and a shooting percentage of 10 percent. However, they fell short in a shootout after an evenly matched game that saw them score three goals during regulation and overtime. Despite losing in such close fashion, there were positives to take away; notably, MTL's goaltending was solid with a save percentage of 100 percent.

The game prior to that against the Florida Panthers on March 1 showed similar characteristics – MTL had an identical shooting percentage and managed three goals once again. Their powerplay capitalized once out of four opportunities but ultimately succumbed in another shootout scenario.

However, it's worth noting that when playing at home against the Arizona Coyotes on February 28, MTL turned up the heat significantly. They not only won but did so convincingly with four goals scored (shooting percentage skyrocketing to an impressive 19 percent) and only two allowed. This victory showcased what MTL is capable of when they find their rhythm – efficient scoring coupled with robust goaltending which resulted in saving all but two of Arizona's shots.

The challenge now lies in translating this home ice success into results away from Bell Centre. The Calgary Flames will not make it easy; they are known for being formidable opponents within their domain at Scotiabank Saddledome.

MTL must focus on maintaining discipline as penalties have been frequent in past games; minimizing time spent shorthanded will be crucial against CGY's potent attack. Winning faceoffs will also be key – something that has been inconsistent for MTL recently – as possession often dictates pace and control over the game flow.

Fans should look out for how well MTL can execute during even-strength play since this has been where most of their recent goals have come from. Additionally, any improvements made to capitalize more effectively during powerplays could tilt this upcoming match in their favor.

With anticipation building up for what promises to be an electrifying encounter between these two teams, fans can catch all the action live online via ESPN+ starting at 7:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) on Friday night.
