Can the Montreal Canadiens Tame the Seattle Kraken in Their Own Lair?

As the Montreal Canadiens prepare to face off against the Seattle Kraken, fans are eager to see if their team can replicate their recent performance at Bell Centre. The Canadiens, coming off a decisive 3-0 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on March 13th, showcased a level of play that could very well carry them through their upcoming challenge.

The Canadiens' goaltending was nothing short of stellar in their last game, with an impressive shutout that saw them save all 41 shots against them. This defensive prowess will be crucial as they go up against a Seattle Kraken team known for its aggressive offense. The Habs' ability to block shots and maintain control of the puck during even-strength play was evident as they blocked 32 shots and scored two even-strength goals.

However, it wasn't just defense that stood out for MTL; their powerplay unit capitalized on one of three opportunities. While this may not seem overwhelming, it demonstrates an efficiency that could prove vital when facing SEA's penalty kill squad.

On the other hand, despite suffering a loss to Toronto Maple Leafs on March 10th with a scoreline of 3-2, MTL showed resilience by scoring once during powerplay and maintaining a faceoff win percentage of over fifty percent. This resilience is something they'll need to tap into when facing SEA's formidable home crowd at Climate Pledge Arena.

Looking back further at MTL's performance against Carolina Hurricanes on March 8th reveals some areas for improvement. Despite losing by three points (4-1), there were positive takeaways such as eight takeaways which indicate an aggressive forechecking strategy that could disrupt SEA's flow.

The key for Montreal will be consistency and capitalizing on scoring opportunities while continuing their strong defensive play. The Kraken should not underestimate this Habs team; if they bring the same level of intensity from their previous games—particularly from March 13th—they have every chance to come out victorious.

MTL fans should mark their calendars for what promises to be an exciting game scheduled for March 24th at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. With puck drop set for 9:00 PM EST (6:00 PM local time), fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+ via internet streaming or ROOT Sports NW if tuning in via television.
