Key Moments and Performances

The game was characterized by strong defensive plays and goaltending from both sides. The Wild's goalie Marc-Andre Fleury was particularly outstanding, earning him the first star of the game. Fleury's performance included saving all 19 shots he faced from the Canadiens, contributing significantly to his team's shutout victory.

On offense, Marco Rossi and Frederick Gaudreau led the charge for Minnesota. Rossi was named the second star for his role in bolstering his team’s attack while Gaudreau secured the third star thanks to his critical plays that kept momentum on their side.

For Montreal, despite a challenging night where they couldn't find the back of net against Fleury’s stellar goaltending, there were notable efforts from several players. Josh Anderson led with five shots on goal attempting to spark Montreal’s offense but unfortunately could not convert any into points. Similarly, Lane Hutson and Mike Matheson were among those who tried to contribute offensively while also being tasked with containing Minnesota's forwards; however both ended up with a minus-two rating for their efforts on ice.

Jakub Dobes in goal for Montreal made an admirable effort saving 23 out of 26 shots during regular play before an empty-netter sealed their fate towards game end. His performance underlined a solid night between pipes despite being on losing end.
