Montreal Canadiens Powerplay Sparks, But Maple Leafs Dominate at Bell Centre

First Period


The opening period saw both teams come out strong, but it was the Maple Leafs who took an early lead with three goals. The Habs managed to get on the scoreboard with a powerplay goal from Mike Matheson, assisted by Nick Suzuki. Despite their efforts, Montreal struggled to contain Toronto's offensive pressure.


Second Period


In the second period, special teams play became crucial as both squads capitalized on powerplay opportunities. The Canadiens added another powerplay goal courtesy of Patrik Laine. However, Toronto extended their lead with two more goals during even-strength play and maintained control over faceoffs and puck possession.

Third Period


As the game progressed into its final period, Montreal's defense was tested repeatedly by Toronto's relentless attack. The Buds netted two additional goals to seal their commanding win. Goaltender Sam Montembeault made several key saves for Montreal but couldn't stop all of Toronto’s high-percentage shots.


The standout performance from Scott Laughton of Toronto earned him first star honors after contributing significantly to his team's offensive success.
