Montreal Canadiens Freeze Penguins with Defensive Masterclass at Bell Centre

The Montreal Canadiens improved their record to 19-12-4 with a commanding 4-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins, who now stand at 14-11-9. The game, held at the Bell Centre, saw the Habs dominate from start to finish.

First Period


The Canadiens set the tone early in the first period with two goals. Josh Anderson was instrumental in this period, scoring one of these goals and showcasing his offensive prowess. The Habs' defense was equally impressive, limiting the Pens to zero goals despite their attempts on goal.


Second Period


In the second period, Montreal continued their strong performance by adding another goal to their tally. Juraj Slafkovský contributed significantly during this period by finding the back of the net. Meanwhile, Jacob Fowler's goaltending skills were on full display as he thwarted all attempts by Pittsburgh to score.

Third Period


The final period saw Montreal seal their victory with an additional goal while maintaining a solid defensive front that kept Pittsburgh scoreless throughout all three periods. Owen Beck added his name to the scoresheet during this time frame.


Jacob Fowler earned recognition as a star player for his outstanding goaltending performance, making 31 saves and achieving a perfect save percentage against Pittsburgh's relentless offense.

In terms of team statistics, Montreal's powerplay efficiency stood out as they capitalized on one of their opportunities while also excelling in shorthanded situations by scoring once and preventing any goals against them when down a man.
