First Period

The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was clear that the Red Wings were setting up for an aggressive play. Despite their efforts, neither team managed to find the back of the net. The Canadiens struggled to capitalize on their opportunities, managing only 23 shots in even strength situations throughout this period.

Second Period

As play resumed in the second period, Detroit's Alex DeBrincat broke through Montreal's defense and scored twice for his team.
