The Predators opened the scoring early in the first period, setting an aggressive tone for the game. However, their lead was short-lived as the Canadiens responded with two goals in the second period. The home team managed to tie it up before heading into the third period where each side added another goal to their tally, pushing the game into overtime.

Despite a strong performance from both teams throughout regulation time, it was ultimately Montreal who secured victory with an overtime goal. This marked a significant win for them on enemy ice at Bridgestone Arena.

Throughout this tightly contested match-up, Nashville's goaltender made an impressive 26 saves but fell just short as Montreal's netminder stopped 25 shots and earned his team a win. The Predators were able to capitalize on faceoffs winning 54 percent compared to Montreal's 46 percent but struggled to convert on powerplay opportunities despite six shots during these advantages.

Offensively for Nashville, contributions were spread across multiple players which showcased their depth and teamwork. Their shooting percentage stood at eleven percent while they blocked eighteen shots defensively showing resilience against a persistent Canadiens attack that had thirteen percent shooting accuracy.
