The game began with an aggressive start from the Golden Knights as they notched three goals in the first period. The Predators responded with one goal in the second period and ramped up their efforts in the third by scoring three goals to tie the game. The decisive moment came during overtime when Nashville capitalized on their opportunity and scored the winning goal.

The Predators' offense was firing on all cylinders as they matched their opponents shot for shot, both teams registering 35 shots on goal. The home team's shooting accuracy was slightly better at 14 percent compared to Vegas' 11 percent. Nashville's powerplay unit made significant contributions by converting one out of two opportunities into a goal.

On defense, both teams were equally matched in blocked shots with Nashville stopping 20 attempts and Vegas blocking an equal number. However, it was Nashville's physicality that stood out as they delivered a total of 47 hits throughout the game compared to Vegas' less imposing count of 17.

Nashville's goaltender played an essential role by making crucial saves under pressure; he saved all but four shots for a save percentage rounding to an impressive full hundred percent over regular time plus overtime. His counterpart from Vegas also displayed resilience between the pipes but ultimately conceded five goals including one during overtime which sealed his team's fate.
