Did the Nashville Predators' Effort Overwhelm the Winnipeg Jets in a Close Encounter?

Despite not scoring in the second period, Nashville came back strong in the third period by netting two goals to tie up the game. The match extended into overtime where Winnipeg managed to secure their winning goal.


Nashville's performance was marked by aggressive play as they outshot their opponents with a total of 48 shots compared to Winnipeg's 22. However, their shooting percentage stood at six percent while Winnipeg capitalized more efficiently on their opportunities with an eighteen percent shooting rate. The home team also led in hits and takeaways throughout the game, recording 28 and 12 respectively.

On special teams play, both teams had multiple powerplay opportunities; however only Winnipeg managed to convert one out of three chances while Nashville failed to capitalize on any of their four powerplays despite taking eleven shots during these advantages.


In terms of faceoffs won over total faceoffs taken (57), Nashville edged out slightly with thirty wins (53 percent) against Winnipeg's twenty-seven (47 percent). Both teams showed discipline throughout most of the game but found themselves serving penalty minutes; eleven for Nashville and thirteen for Winnipeg.

The goaltending battle was intense as well. While both goalies faced different workloads – Nashville’s goalie made eighteen saves from twenty-two shots whereas his counterpart from Winnipeg made an impressive forty-five saves from forty-eight shots – they each displayed resilience under pressure throughout regulation time and into overtime.
