First Period

The opening period saw both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was the Lightning who struck first. Charle-Edouard D'Astous made his presence felt early on by scoring for Tampa Bay. The Preds struggled to find their rhythm offensively and were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.

Second Period

As the game progressed into the second period, Nashville's defense tightened up but couldn't prevent another goal from slipping past Juuse Saros. Despite outshooting their opponents during power plays, they failed to convert these chances into goals. The Bolts maintained control and extended their lead with another goal.

Third Period

In an attempt to mount a comeback in the third period, Nashville's Filip Forsberg found success on a power play opportunity, putting one past Tampa Bay's goaltender. Brady Skjei also contributed with an assist during this rally effort. However, despite these efforts and dominating faceoffs with a win percentage of 66 percent throughout the game, it wasn't enough as Zemgus Girgensons sealed victory for his team by adding two more goals late in regulation time.
