Can the New Jersey Devils Capitalize on Their Momentum at Capital One Arena?

As the New Jersey Devils prepare to face off against the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena, fans are eager to see if their team can continue their recent success on foreign ice. The upcoming game, scheduled for January 4th, promises to be a thrilling encounter between two competitive teams.

The Devils have shown remarkable resilience and offensive prowess in their past games. On December 31st against the Boston Bruins, despite a loss with a final score of 5-2, they demonstrated an impressive faceoff win percentage of 72 percent during power plays and blocked a total of 13 shots. However, they will need to address their minus-10 plus-minus rating from that game as it reflects defensive vulnerabilities that could be exploited by the Capitals.

In contrast, during their December 30th victory over the Ottawa Senators with an emphatic scoreline of 6-2, NJ displayed both scoring efficiency with a shooting percentage of 20 percent and defensive solidity by winning 70 percent of shorthanded faceoffs. This kind of performance is exactly what will be required when they take on WSH.

The most recent home game for NJ was particularly noteworthy; an overtime win against Columbus Blue Jackets on December 28th showcased their ability to perform under pressure. They won this nail-biter with a final score of 4-3 after securing an overtime goal – evidence that this team has grit and determination in spades.

One area where NJ has consistently excelled is in goaltending – saving at least one hundred percent shots while shorthanded across all three previous games. This reliability between the pipes will be crucial in thwarting WSH's attackers who are known for being relentless around the net.

However, it's not just about defense; NJ's offense needs to maintain its momentum too. With powerplay goals accounting for one-third of their total goals scored against Ottawa Senators and strong even-strength performances throughout these past matchups, maintaining this balanced attack will be key in overcoming WSH's defenses.

Devils fans should feel optimistic yet cautious; while there are clear strengths within this squad – such as faceoff dominance and shot-blocking abilities – areas like plus-minus ratings indicate room for improvement defensively which cannot go unaddressed if they wish to secure victory away from home soil.

The clash between New Jersey Devils and Washington Capitals is set for January 4th at Capital One Arena in Washington DC at promptly half-past seven o'clock PM Eastern Time (ET). Fans can catch all the action live on TNT channel number two hundred forty-five or stream it via Max internet platform or tune into MSGSN channel six hundred thirty-five for television broadcast coverage.
