Devils' Even-Strength Effort Not Enough Against Lightning's Surge at Amalie Arena

The New Jersey Devils, with a record of 3-4, faced off against the Tampa Bay Lightning, who held a 4-3 advantage by the end of an intense match. The Devils managed to score once in each period, leading to a total of three goals. However, it was not enough to secure victory as the Lightning struck back with four goals.

The game at Amalie Arena saw the Devils put up a valiant effort. They were strong on hits with 24 and blocked 15 attempts from their opponents. Their shooting accuracy was evident as they scored three times from 30 shots on goal, translating to a shooting percentage of ten percent. The faceoff circle saw an almost even split with the Devils winning 24 out of 47 faceoffs.

Despite five penalties resulting in ten penalty minutes for the Devils compared to only six minutes for Tampa Bay due to three penalties, both teams failed to capitalize on powerplay opportunities; each team had one chance but did not convert it into a goal.

New Jersey's goaltender faced twenty shots and made sixteen saves throughout the game including overtime but allowed four goals against him which ultimately led to an overtime loss credit for him and his team. On the other side of the ice, Tampa Bay's goalie saved twenty-seven out of thirty shots directed at him which contributed significantly towards their win.

A notable aspect was that all three goals by New Jersey came during even-strength play while Tampa Bay managed one shorthanded goal along with their even-strength efforts. The final period remained scoreless for both teams pushing them into overtime where Tampa Bay clinched victory with an additional goal making it four against three in favor of them.

Devils fans can look forward to their next game when they will be visiting Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise on January 13th at 6:00 PM Eastern Time. This upcoming encounter can be viewed nationally on ESPN+ via internet streaming or through TV channels BSFL (channel number:654) and MSGSN (channel number:635) depending upon viewers' location.
