New Jersey Devils Set to Battle Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena

In their last game on December 24th against the Detroit Red Wings, the Devils secured a win with a score of 3-2. This victory was marked by an even-strength performance where they managed to outshoot the Red Wings with 36 shots to Detroit's 24. The goaltending was solid, posting a save percentage of around 92 percent. However, it wasn't all smooth sailing; despite winning more than half of their faceoffs and blocking ten shots, they failed to capitalize on any of their four powerplay opportunities.

Two days earlier on December 22nd against the Edmonton Oilers, NJ faced a tough loss with Edmonton scoring six goals to NJ's three. The Oilers' shooting percentage was significantly higher than that of NJ's during that game – almost double – which suggests defensive vulnerabilities that needed addressing.

The game before that on December 20th saw another close encounter for NJ as they went into overtime against the Philadelphia Flyers but ultimately lost with a final scoreline reading 3-2 in favor of Philadelphia. While they won over sixty percent of faceoffs and had twenty takeaways indicating strong puck possession skills, it wasn't enough to secure them the win.

Looking ahead at the upcoming game against CBJ at Nationwide Arena, there are key areas where NJ can leverage its strengths while being mindful of past shortcomings. Their ability to control puck possession through faceoffs will be crucial; however, converting powerplay opportunities could be what tips them over into securing another win if they manage it effectively.

CBJ will not make it easy though; playing at home gives them an edge and fans can expect them to come out strong in front of their crowd. It will be essential for NJ’s defense and goaltending to step up just as much as their offense if they want positive results from this encounter.

Devils supporters should mark January 19th on their calendars when these two teams meet at Nationwide Arena in Columbus at 7:00 PM EST. Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+ nationally or tune into BSOH channel 660 for home broadcast coverage or MSG channel 634 for away coverage.
