In an intense match-up at PNC Arena, the New Jersey Devils were unable to find the back of the net despite multiple opportunities. The team put up a total of 34 shots but was met with an impenetrable defense led by Carolina's goaltender who saved all attempts. The Devils showcased their physicality on ice with a total of 26 hits and maintained strong defensive play by blocking 24 shots from their opponents.

The powerplay unit for New Jersey had four chances to capitalize but failed to convert any into goals; they managed eight shots during these opportunities and won seven out of ten faceoffs in these situations. Overall, their faceoff win percentage was less than ideal at 46 percent throughout the game.

New Jersey's penalty kill was effective as they did not allow any goals while being one man down and successfully saved all five shorthanded shots they faced. Their goaltender had an impressive night between the pipes making a total of 31 saves; however, it wasn't enough as one shot slipped past in overtime granting Carolina Hurricanes their victory goal.

On offense, giveaways were an issue for New Jersey as they recorded thirteen throughout the game which may have disrupted their flow and scoring chances. Despite this setback and being unable to score on any of their powerplay or even strength attempts, there were positive takeaways such as ten takeaways indicating active sticks and good positioning defensively.

The upcoming match for New Jersey Devils is set against Seattle Kraken at Prudential Center in Newark on February 13th. Fans can catch this encounter live on ESPN+ over internet streams or tune into MSGSN channel 635 for TV broadcast if located within home locale areas; ROOT Sports NW will also be broadcasting via channel 687 for those watching from away locales.
