The game at Prudential Center started off with the Senators taking an early lead by scoring once in the first period. The Devils responded in the second period by netting two goals to even out the playing field momentarily. However, Ottawa took control and added three more goals in that same period. The third period saw one additional goal from Ottawa which sealed their win.

The Devils' goaltender faced a total of 25 shots and made 20 saves but allowed five goals past him. Despite this performance between the pipes, it was not enough to secure a win for New Jersey. On offense, they managed to put up 20 shots on goal but were only able to convert two into scores.

New Jersey's powerplay unit had four opportunities throughout the game but failed to capitalize on any of them; they recorded two shots during these chances without success. Their penalty kill was tested five times and conceded one goal while managing three saves on four shorthanded situations.

On faceoffs, New Jersey won more than half at 56 percent compared to Ottawa's 44 percent success rate at the dot. However, this advantage did not translate into control over the game's outcome.

Ottawa’s performance was highlighted by their efficient shooting percentage of twenty percent as they scored five times from twenty-five attempts on goal. They also showcased strong defensive play by blocking eleven shots and successfully killing all four penalties they faced while scoring once shorthanded themselves.

Looking ahead for New Jersey fans, 'the' Devils will be visiting 'the' New York Islanders at UBS Arena in Belmont Park on March 24th at 9:00 PM Eastern Time Zone (ET). This matchup can be watched live through various networks including ESPN+ online or MSG and MSGSN for television viewers.
