The game began with the Devils struggling to find their footing as they ended the first period without adding any points to their tally. However, an impressive surge in the second period saw them netting three goals. Despite this comeback effort and maintaining an even strength throughout most of the game, they were unable to sustain their lead into the third period.

The Devils showcased resilience on offense with a total shot count of 20 and converting those opportunities into three goals. Their shooting percentage stood at an impressive 15 percent for this matchup. The team also demonstrated proficiency in faceoffs winning 34 out of 61 attempts which translates to a faceoff win percentage of 56 percent.

Defensively, New Jersey was active blocking a total of twelve shots while delivering fifteen hits during play. The penalty kill unit had its hands full as well; although they did not concede any powerplay goals from two shots faced during these situations.

Goaltending for the Devils was kept busy throughout all periods as they faced forty-one shots from Rangers' skaters and managed thirty-seven saves which is reflected by their save percentage being perfect at one hundred percent for even-strength play but ultimately conceding four goals over sixty minutes on ice.

On special teams, despite having three powerplay opportunities themselves and taking two shots during these chances, New Jersey could not capitalize on any powerplay goal conversions leaving them without additional points that might have changed the outcome.

Looking ahead after this tough loss on enemy ice at Madison Square Garden where all eighteen thousand six fans witnessed full-time action until closure at approximately one forty-five AM Eastern Time; The New Jersey Devils are set to visit Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre located in Ottawa on April sixth scheduled for eleven PM Eastern Time zone broadcasted live by ESPN+ online and MSG television network for fans eager to follow their next performance.
