The Islanders opened the scoring early in the first period but were unable to maintain their lead as the Flyers responded with three goals in the second period. On defense, Ilya Sorokin had a challenging night between the pipes for New York but still managed an impressive save percentage of 100 percent against shots faced during even strength play. Despite allowing four goals before an empty-netter sealed their fate, Sorokin's efforts kept his team competitive throughout most of the match.


For Philadelphia, Sean Couturier led from the front as one of their star players recognized post-game for his contributions on offense. Travis Konecny also played a pivotal role in securing this win for his team.
