The home team's offense was firing on all cylinders as they netted four goals on twenty-one shots, translating to an impressive shooting percentage of nineteen percent. The Rangers' scoring was spread across three periods with two goals in the first and one each in the second and third. Their powerplay unit had three opportunities but did not convert any into goals despite taking three shots during these chances.

Defensively, the New York Rangers were solid throughout the game. The goaltending was particularly effective; they made twenty-two saves against twenty-five shots from Vancouver for an eighty-eight percent save rate. The defense also contributed by blocking eleven shots and delivering twenty-five hits to stifle their opponents' offensive efforts.

On the other side of the ice, despite their loss, Vancouver Canucks showed resilience throughout their performance. They managed to score once in each period for their total of three goals from twenty-five shots which gave them a twelve percent shooting success rate. Their penalty kill units were successful as well; they did not allow any powerplay goals even though they faced three shorthanded situations.

The faceoff circle saw an even battle between both teams with each winning fifty percent of faceoffs taken (twenty-six out of fifty-two). However, it was New York's ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities that ultimately made the difference in this evenly matched contest.
